As one of the most comprehensive in鈥慼ouse legal operations in the country,听础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚 Law & Regulation听Department offers a dynamic environment focused on professional development, innovation, and work that has meaningful, enterprise鈥憌ide impact.听听The Summer Clerkship offers听exceptional opportunity for听first-year听law students to gain hands鈥憃n experience while contributing to high鈥憅uality legal work that supports 础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚 mission and business.听

础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚 summer听law clerk听program is a paid,听ten-week听hybrid听experience.听This position is based in听础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚听Washington, D.C. Federal Affairs Office, where听law clerks听will work onsite 2鈥3 days per week.听Travel to 础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚听Chicago offices听will be听required.听The clerkship听offers summer听law clerks听the opportunity to work with multiple divisions within the department, including Global Litigation, Employment Law, Business Law,听Compliance, Corporate Law, and Government and Industry Relations.听础濒濒蝉迟补迟别鈥檚 Law & Regulation听Department听operates听under a clear structure, giving听law clerks听visibility into how legal work directly supports business growth and risk mitigation.听
A summer听law clerk鈥檚 responsibilities include legal research, preparation of legal memoranda, and oral presentations under the supervision of a licensed Allstate attorney.听Law Clerks听will be paired with a dedicated attorney-mentor and will听participate听in structured programming that highlights how the department executes its legal and strategic goals. They may also听observe听internal strategy sessions, and business-unit briefings.听Law Clerks听in the D.C. office will also have opportunities to engage directly with federal and state lawmakers,听observe听policy development, and support federal affairs initiatives.听
The salary is competitive, and the position begins in early June听2026. Ideal candidates should have outstanding research and writing skills, along with effective oral communication skills. Allstate is looking for听students to听join us after successfully completing their听first year of law school (Rising 2Ls)听who听demonstrate听change agility听and听embrace听cross-functional collaboration, and听innovation.听Law clerks听will gain exposure to initiatives aligned with Law & Regulation鈥檚 enterprise-wide goals, including innovation in legal operations, AI and data analytics integration, legal system abuse mitigation efforts, climate-related strategies, and cross-functional business partnerships. Students interested in听government affairs,听corporate practice, complex litigation, regulatory policy,听and听legal innovation are strongly encouraged to apply.听This role is particularly well suited for students with an interest in government affairs, public policy, or the intersection of law and legislative advocacy.听Law school transcripts are听required. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is expected, along with听demonstrated听excellence in research, writing, and analytical skills.听
